Minister Yoo said, "As a national strategic resource determining AI competitiveness, the 'National AI Computing Center' has been actively established since January this year," adding, "Last month, we jointly announced with related ministries the national AI capability enhancement plan, focusing on the AI computing infrastructure expansion master plan and strategies to secure independent AI model competitiveness."
He reiterated, "Powerful computing infrastructure and advanced AI models organically maximize AI performance and achieve true innovation."
He continued, "The government will ensure thorough follow-up measures, such as expanding approximately 18,000 GPUs by the first half of 2026 and promoting a national representative project for developing globally top-tier AI models."
The event saw the participation of major domestic and international AI companies, including OpenAI, AWS, Microsoft, Perplexity, LG AI Research, Rebellion, and FuriosaAI.
