Mayor Oh Holds Emergency Meeting with Senior Officials on the 25th
On the 24th, a large sinkhole occurred in Myeongil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, and Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon stated, "Please ensure thoroughness in the rescue operations."
On the morning of the 25th, Mayor Oh held an 'Emergency Countermeasure Meeting for Accident Management' related to the sinkhole to discuss the status of the missing person rescue and follow-up measures. The meeting was attended by the 1st and 2nd Deputy Mayors, the Political Deputy Mayor, the Director of Disaster and Safety, and other senior officials from related departments.
On the 24th, a large sinkhole spanning four lanes occurred at an intersection near Daemyeong Elementary School in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. On the 25th, the area around the accident site is being cordoned off. One passenger car and one motorcycle fell into the sinkhole, and one occupant of the passenger car was transported to a nearby hospital. One motorcycle rider fell into the sinkhole and has not yet been found. The city has deployed two excavators, 17 rescue personnel, and one search and rescue dog to search for the missing person.
Mayor Oh conveyed, "Pay close attention to safety management to prevent secondary accidents during the rescue process." He also visited the site around 9:20 PM on the day of the accident.
