Samsung E&A-KIST Launch Demonstration of High-Temperature Water Electrolysis Facility
'160 kW High-Temperature Water Electrolysis Hot Box Demonstration Kick-off Ceremony' Held
First Domestic Project Since the Enactment of the Hydrogen Act
Samsung E&A announced on the 25th that it has partnered with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) to commence a demonstration project for high-temperature water electrolysis facilities.

View original imageOn the 24th, Samsung E&A held the '160 kW High-Temperature Water Electrolysis (SOEC) Hot Box Demonstration Kick-off Ceremony' with KIST. This project aims to verify the stability and efficiency before constructing industrial-scale water electrolysis facilities, and it is significant as the first high-temperature water electrolysis demonstration project conducted domestically since the enactment of the Hydrogen Act.
Samsung E&A and KIST took their first step in collaboration through a joint cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) in February last year, launched a joint research institute for water electrolysis technology development in July of the same year, and have continuously cooperated by establishing large-scale SOEC stack evaluation and demonstration facilities. Samsung E&A plans to successfully carry out this demonstration project by combining its experience and technological capabilities accumulated through numerous projects with KIST’s research expertise in the field of high-temperature water electrolysis technology.
