Police Restrict Tractor March, Citing Safety Concerns
The Korean Peasants League (Jeonnong) has announced a 'Tractor March Rally' on the 25th calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol, while the police have issued restrictions on part of the rally.
Park Hyun-soo, acting commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, stated at a regular press briefing on the 24th, "We have issued restrictions on the rally reported by Jeonnong, which plans to march with tractors and trucks," adding, "While the march of rally participants is permitted, the participation of vehicles such as tractors and trucks will be restricted due to the risk of accidents."
Jeon Bong-jun Struggle Group, affiliated with Jeonnong, previously announced that on the 25th, dozens of agricultural tractors and trucks will be mobilized for the 'Jeon Bong-jun Struggle Group Seoul Re-advance.' They plan to gather at Namtaeryeong, Seoul, around 1:30 PM for a resolution rally, followed by a tractor march to Gwanghwamun.
The police explained that the tractor protest itself involves high risks, and due to concerns about conflicts between opposing groups and traffic disruptions, they issued the restriction notice.
In response, Jeonnong immediately opposed the police's restriction notice and has filed for a suspension of enforcement.
