Korea Racing Authority Embraces Abused Horse 'Unicon'
Spending the Rest of Its Life at Korea Racing Authority's Jangsu Ranch
Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jeong Ki-hwan) has welcomed back a horse that was rescued after suffering abuse.
An official from the Korea Racing Authority announced on the 23rd that "Unicorn," one of the horses victimized in the abuse case at a ranch in Gongju City in October 2024, was moved to the Korea Racing Authority's Jangsu Ranch on the 19th.
Unicorn, a horse imported from Germany for equestrian use by the Korea Racing Authority in 2006, reportedly ended up at the problematic ranch in Gongju after changing owners twice.

However, due to being 24 years old, it was difficult to find an adopter or adoption institution.
Therefore, the Korea Racing Authority decided to adopt Unicorn so that the horse would not have to move from one unfamiliar place to another and could spend the rest of its life in comfort. They chose to provide a new home at the Korea Racing Authority's Jangsu Ranch (Jangsu-gun, North Jeolla Province), where Unicorn had previously stayed from 2010 to 2013.
Specialized staff, including equine veterinarians from the Korea Racing Authority, plan to take direct care of Unicorn so the horse can freely roam the wide pastures.
