Relieving the Burden of Parenting Expected
Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) and the Gyeonggi Gwangju Childcare Support Center announced on the 20th that the "Child Proper Growth Support Project," first implemented nationwide in Gwangju City in 2024, will be expanded to help the healthy growth and development of infants and young children in the area and to reduce the economic burden on parenting families.

View original imageAccordingly, from 2025, a more detailed support system will be established, including △ increased frequency of developmental tests and consultations △ education on bonding and relationship building △ provision of customized modular education △ partial support for treatment costs for children with developmental delays, so that more infants, young children, and families can benefit and the parenting burden related to developmental support can be actively reduced.
The "Child Proper Growth Support Project" is a universal developmental support service targeting children aged 24 months and older before entering school. In particular, it provides various services such as proactive developmental screening support for infants and young children, customized expert coaching, and caregiver counseling in close cooperation with partner institutions.
Last year, 3,047 children aged 24 months and older before entering school received developmental tests, with a total of 8,533 tests conducted, including temperament tests (1,834 cases), multifaceted aptitude tests (1,640 cases), parental parenting attitude tests (2,012 cases), and other tests (3,047 cases).
Additionally, 1,342 family support services (education and counseling) were provided, with a parental satisfaction rate exceeding 99%.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan of Gwangju City stated, "Gwangju City will continue to play a leading role in expanding support for infants, young children, and families," adding, "We plan to provide comprehensive support so that children can grow up healthily."
