aespa, First Female Artist to Win 4 Awards at Japan's MTV 'VMAJ'
Group aespa received another award in Japan.
On the 19th, aespa won four awards at the MTV ‘Video Music Awards Japan 2025’ (VMAJ) held at K Arena Yokohama, including Artist of the Year. They also won ‘Best Group Video’ (International) for the title track ‘Whiplash’ from their fifth mini-album, ‘Best Dance Video’ for ‘Supernova,’ and ‘Best K-POP Video’ for ‘Armageddon,’ both from their first full-length album’s double title tracks. This achievement marks the highest record for a female artist.

Aespa officially debuted in Japan on July 3 last year with the single ‘Hot Mess’ and achieved sold-out shows with two arena tours and a Tokyo Dome concert, becoming the first overseas female artist to perform at Tokyo Dome for two consecutive years. Previously, at the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards, they won two awards as ‘New Artist of the Year’ and ‘Best 3 New Artists.’ In August, they will participate in the Tokyo performance of Japan’s large-scale urban music festival ‘Summer Sonic 2025.’
