Boseong-gun to Hold Cherry Blossom Festival and Mundeok Township Residents' Day as a Combined Event
March 29-30 at Boseong County Baekmin Art Museum and Surrounding Area
Boseong County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 19th that the 12th Boseong Cherry Blossom Festival and the 21st Mundeok Township Residents’ Day will be held together on March 29-30 at the Boseong County Baekmin Art Museum and its surrounding area.
This event is co-hosted by the Boseong Cherry Blossom Festival Promotion Committee (Chairperson Jo Yeonok) and the Mundeok Township Residents’ Association (President Jo Yeonok), and will splendidly mark the beginning of spring with the Boseong King Cherry Blossom Tunnel, which was selected as one of the “100 Most Beautiful Roads in Korea,” as its backdrop.
The 5.5km-long Boseong King Cherry Blossom Tunnel is the perfect place to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Juam Lake combined with cherry blossoms. Photo zones will be set up throughout the venue for visitors to capture memorable moments.
On the main stage, local artists will kick off the festivities with performances such as pungmulnori (Korean folk percussion), gugak (traditional music), and line dance, followed by a magic show, singing contest, and celebratory performances. Various exhibitions and hands-on activities will also be held throughout the festival area.
In particular, there will be a local specialty market run directly by producers and a woodworking exhibition by local hobbyists. Through the “A Moment in Life” photo exhibition, part of the Boseong Culture 600 Project, visitors can get a glimpse into the lives and memories of local elders.
Children can enjoy character performances, nostalgic dalgona candy making, and balloon art. In addition, an event featuring the Boseong County SNS characters BS Samchongsa and other popular characters will create special memories for families.
During the festival, vehicles will be restricted at the venue entrance parking lot for the safety of tourists and residents, and shuttle buses will be operated. Visitors can walk for about 25 minutes along the King Cherry Blossom Tunnel from the parking lot to the venue, and upon arrival, there will be an event where Boseong specialty products are given out.
Jo Yeonok, Chairperson of the Boseong Cherry Blossom Festival Promotion Committee, said, “Through a festival where local residents come together, I want to widely promote the beauty of Boseong,” and added, “Just like the cherry blossoms bloom again, I hope everyone can start the spring of 2025 with their loved ones at the Boseong King Cherry Blossom Tunnel.”
Meanwhile, there will be a free Boseong green tea tasting event at the venue, and the 48th Boseong Dahyang Festival, to be held at the Korea Tea Culture Park from May 2 to 6, will also be promoted.
