BPA Expands Exchange and Cooperation for Mutual Growth with Shandong Port Group in China
Sharing Know-how on Port Redevelopment
Exploring Measures for Further Development
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sanggeun) announced that on the 18th, a delegation led by Han Enzhe, Vice President of Shandong Port Group, visited Busan Port to benchmark the redevelopment case of Busan North Port and discuss cooperation measures between the two ports.
On this day, the delegation attended a briefing at the BPA headquarters on the operation of Busan Port and the North Port redevelopment project, and then toured Busan North Port and the redevelopment area by port guide vessel. They also exchanged opinions focusing on step-by-step strategies for port redevelopment, port-city integrated development models, and strategies for expanding commercial functions being pursued by Busan Port.
The delegation noted that the North Port redevelopment is being promoted as a large-scale development project where port and city functions are organically integrated, rather than simply improving port facilities. Based on Busan Port's redevelopment experience, they sought ways to apply these practices to the development and operation of ports under Shandong Port Group.
Koo Jarim, Head of BPA Global Business Division, said, "We expect this visit will further invigorate the exchange of know-how on port redevelopment and operation between Busan Port Authority and Shandong Port Group," and added, "We will continue to expand cooperation with major Northeast Asian ports and do our best to establish Busan Port as the center of shipping, logistics, and maritime culture in Northeast Asia."
Busan Port and Shandong Port Group have been engaged in continuous exchange and cooperation since signing a strategic cooperation MOU in 2010 with four ports in Shandong Province (Qingdao, Weihai, Rizhao, Yantai).
