“Mayor, We’re Getting Married” Seongnam City’s ‘Solomon’s Choice’ Fourth Married Couple Emerges
A Grateful Couple Ties the Knot in May

The 4th married couple has emerged from the 'Solomon's Choice' event, a meeting arranged by Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sang-jin), for unmarried men and women.

View original imageSeongnam City announced on the 18th that the prospective groom, Mr. Park (34), and the prospective bride, Ms. Han (30), visited the city hall on the 17th to present their wedding invitation to Mayor Shin Sang-jin.
The couple first met at the 2nd Solomon's Choice event held on July 9, 2023, at the Pangyo Gravity Hotel.
After dating for just over two years and nurturing their love, they are set to tie the knot on May 24.
The prospective groom, Mr. Park, said, "Thanks to Solomon's Choice, I met a precious partner to spend my life with," adding, "I am grateful for organizing such a meaningful event."
Mayor Shin Sang-jin of Seongnam City stated, "This event was started to provide a natural meeting place for unmarried men and women, to change perceptions about marriage, and to contribute to overcoming the low birthrate issue," and added, "I am pleased to hear marriage news from those who met through Solomon's Choice."
He continued, "Nine cities nationwide have benchmarked this event and are holding similar events, bringing about positive changes in various ways, which is rewarding."
The Solomon's Choice event is part of Seongnam City's marriage promotion policy for young unmarried men and women and was first launched on July 2, 2023.
Out of 610 couples who participated in the 13 events held so far, 288 couples (47%) have continued their relationships, and the 1st couple (July 7, 2024) and 2nd couple (September 1, 2024) have gotten married. The 1st couple has since had a son.
The 3rd couple will get married on the 27th of next month.
This event has attracted attention not only domestically but also from major global media outlets, including The New York Times (NYT) in the United States, The Straits Times (ST) in Singapore, Reuters in the United Kingdom, The Boston Globe in the United States, Bloomberg Media Group in the United States, and the BBC in the United Kingdom, all covering it as a major story.

In its third year, the Solomon's Choice event is scheduled to be held eight times (14th to 21st sessions) from May through the end of the year.
