During the meeting, participants shared Gwangju's livelihood economy policies, introduced the Tourism Enterprise Support Center's projects, and discussed the roles of local tourism companies in light of the 'Visit Gwangju Year'.
Mayor Kang stated, "With the 45th anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement and the 2025 World Archery Championships, a variety of international mega-events will be held. Please actively participate in making the Visit Gwangju Year a success with creative ideas, so that the diverse beads of Gwangju can be strung together into a precious treasure. The city of Gwangju will also serve as a catalyst for the success of tourism companies through ongoing communication and support."
The tourism companies said, "Thanks to the support projects of the Gwangju Tourism Enterprise Support Center, such as providing office space, various consulting services, and product development assistance, our companies are growing. The tourism companies also agreed that Gwangju has abundant tourism content, such as the May 18 Democratization Movement, Mudeungsan, and nighttime scenery, and voiced the need for support measures to commercialize these resources.
Meanwhile, the Gwangju Tourism Enterprise Support Center, operated by the Gwangju Tourism Organization, was selected as a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism project in 2022. Each year, it receives about 1 billion KRW each from the national and city governments to discover tourism startups and systematically nurture and support tourism enterprises.
