Ulsan City Launches Full-Scale Support Project for Corporate Carbon Regulation Response
Operation of Expert Consultation Center and Various Support Including Carbon Emissions Consulting
Application Period for Carbon Emissions Consulting: March 31 to April 11
Ulsan City, together with Ulsan Technopark and the Korea Testing & Research Institute for Chemical Convergence, will actively promote the "Corporate Carbon Regulation Response Support Project" until December, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises exporting carbon-intensive products to the European Union (EU).
This project has been prepared in response to the introduction and implementation of the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) from next year and the global trend toward carbon neutrality, aiming to support Ulsan-based companies in reducing carbon emissions and strengthening export competitiveness.
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism is a system that imposes and collects an additional carbon price equivalent to the carbon cost paid for production within the EU on products produced outside the EU and imported into the EU.
The main components of the project include: ▲ operation of a CBAM expert consultation center ▲ carbon emissions consulting ▲ specialized carbon management training ▲ holding forums (seminars), and more.
The CBAM expert consultation center will operate via phone consultations on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting March 17.
In-person consultations (at Ulsan Technopark, Jongga-ro, Jung-gu, Ulsan) are also available by appointment.
Carbon emissions consulting will support local companies subject to the EU CBAM with production process analysis, calculation of carbon emissions, and preparation of verification reports by accredited verification agencies, up to a limit of 21 million KRW per company.
For details on how to apply for carbon emissions consulting and other information, please refer to the announcement posted on the Ulsan Technopark website.
The announcement period is from March 17, 2025, to April 11, 2025, and the application submission period is from March 31, 2025, to April 11, 2025.
Additionally, to strengthen the capabilities of companies to reduce carbon emissions, specialized training will be conducted twice this year, once in the first half and once in the second half, and forums (seminars) will be held in the second half of the year to build a corporate cooperation network.
