US Special Envoy Whitkopf Arrives in Russia... "US-Russia Delegations Expected to Meet"
Steven Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, arrived in Moscow, Russia on the 13th (local time) to discuss a ceasefire plan with Ukraine.
TASS news agency reported, citing flight tracking information from Flightradar24, that the aircraft associated with Special Envoy Witkoff departed from Qatar and arrived in Moscow, Russia.
Earlier, Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, said at a briefing that day, "The U.S. negotiation team is flying to Russia, and actual contact is planned." He added, regarding the so-called '30-day ceasefire plan,' that after receiving information from the U.S. side, Russia would consider its position on Ukraine and formalize it, saying, "We will not get ahead of ourselves."
Spokesperson Peskov explained that on the 11th, during a high-level meeting between the U.S. and Ukraine held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the U.S. is in the process of conveying information to Russia about the agreement on a 30-day ceasefire.
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also stated at a briefing that day, "Russia is ready to discuss with the U.S. the results of the negotiations between the U.S. and Ukraine held in Jeddah," adding, "Such contact could take place as early as today."
Amid expectations that Special Envoy Witkoff will also meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Peskov said that besides President Putin’s meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, there is a possibility of contact with others.
