"Toilet Clogged Again"... Indian Passenger Plane Bound for New Delhi from Chicago Ultimately
Toilets Blocked by Rags, Clothes, and Plastic Bags
Spokesperson: "This Is Not the First Time Foreign Objects Have Been Found in Toilets"
A flight of Air India from Chicago, USA to New Delhi, India was forced to return after a few hours due to clogged toilets on the plane.
According to CNN and others on the 11th (local time), Air India flight 126, which was heading from Chicago to New Delhi on the 5th, returned to Chicago after several toilets were clogged with rags, clothes, and plastic bags.
According to reports, the flight had no choice but to return after 5 hours. The crew discovered that 8 out of 12 toilets were out of order just 1 hour and 45 minutes after the flight began. The airline decided to return, judging that it would be unreasonable for passengers to use only 4 toilets for the remaining flight time. The aircraft returned to Chicago while flying over the Atlantic Ocean due to nighttime flight restrictions at European airports.
The return trip to Chicago took about 10 hours. An Air India spokesperson told CNN, "The decision to change the one-way flight was made entirely for the convenience and safety of the passengers."

According to the investigation, polyethylene bags, rags, and clothes had flowed into the toilets and clogged the pipes, CNN reported. The spokesperson said, "This is not the first time foreign objects have been found in Air India toilets," adding, "Blankets, innerwear, diapers, and other trash have been disposed of in toilets on other flights." Air India provided passengers with hotel accommodations and alternative flight routes.
