The Beomseok Award was established to carry on the late Dr. Beomseok Park Young-ha’s legacy of "love for humanity and respect for life," who devoted his life to the advancement of medicine and nurturing talent. The Beomseok Academic Scholarship Foundation annually selects and honors medical professionals who have made outstanding achievements in education, treatment, and research in the medical field.
Professor Kim received the award in the "Paper Award" category in recognition of his leading research on non-invasive liver fibrosis diagnosis and prognosis improvement, publishing numerous papers in international academic journals and advancing medical science.
In particular, last year, Professor Kim accurately predicted the prognosis of patients with fatty liver disease related to metabolic disorders using non-invasive liver fibrosis tests, and published the results in the prestigious international journal Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA, IF 120.7), drawing global attention from the medical community.
Professor Koo was highly evaluated for his contributions to innovative diagnosis and treatment guidelines in the field of heart and coronary artery diseases, receiving the award in the "Medical Award" category.
Based on his research achievements on coronary artery branch lesions, Professor Koo has continuously developed new diagnostic methods and treatment guidelines.
He has also actively disseminated these methods in clinical practice, leading efforts to improve the prognosis of cardiovascular diseases, the world’s leading cause of death.
Chairperson Park Joon-sook said, “The relentless research of medical professionals blossoming within the art of medicine has become a catalyst for the remarkable advancement of Korean healthcare. The Beomseok Academic Scholarship Foundation will continue to spare no effort or support to enable doctors and scholars to freely devote themselves to academic research.”
