Kim Dong-yeon: "The Most Troublesome Candidate Is Lee Jae-myung... Will Lose to Anyone from the People Power Party"
Kim Dong-yeon: "Lee Jae-myung Is the Most Threatening and Troublesome"
"If an Early Presidential Election Is Held, I Will Compete with Vision and Policies"
Emphasizes Constitutional Amendment for a Decentralized Presidential System and Four-Year Single Term
Kim Dong-yeon, governor of Gyeonggi Province and a potential presidential candidate from the opposition, stated on the 6th that "the most threatening and troublesome candidate is Lee Jae-myung." Kim appeared on the YouTube channel 'Gukyo-hyung's Political Emergency Exit' that day and said, "There is no troublesome candidate in the People Power Party. Whoever comes out from the People Power Party will lose to the Democratic Party candidate."

Whoever it is, that is the case." This effectively hinted at his intention to run for president.
He said, "(I) advocated for a decentralized presidential system and a responsible prime minister system, and also for a four-year single term. This was agreed upon three years ago when I allied with Representative Lee Jae-myung. We decided to have a decentralized president and shorten the term by one year," he said.
He continued, "The president and the majority party come from the same party, take responsibility for governing for four years, and are judged after four years," adding, "The reason for shortening the term to three years is related to the next general election. The next president must make a sacrifice. Because the constitutional amendment achieved during their term will not apply to them, they will not be able to run again," he explained.
Kim also emphasized constitutional amendment during a meeting with Representative Lee on the 28th of last month. He said, "For an overwhelming regime change, election alliances and even forming a joint government are necessary," adding, "I cannot understand at all why the constitutional amendment is not even being properly discussed right now. It is very regrettable."
