The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Fire Headquarters (Chief Lee Osook) will operate the '119 Integrated Situation Room Internship Program' for 12 field personnel until May.
According to the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters on the 5th, this internship program was designed to allow field personnel to directly experience the work of the 119 Integrated Situation Room and develop practical skills.

The selected interns will directly perform core duties of the situation room, such as receiving 119 emergency calls, assessing situations, and issuing dispatch orders, thereby gaining hands-on experience in making quick and accurate decisions during emergencies.
It is also expected that by understanding the situation room's work from the perspective of field dispatch, a more organic response system can be established.
Since the second half of 2023, the 119 Integrated Situation Room Internship Program has helped participating personnel become familiar with situation room duties in advance, contributing to the stable maintenance of dispatch order times.
While it normally takes time to adapt to situation room duties at first, the internship program has improved the accuracy and efficiency of dispatch orders by allowing personnel to gain practical experience beforehand.
In fact, the dispatch order time has remained at 57.6 seconds in 2023 and 50.5 seconds in 2024. Among the internship participants, 11 out of 25 (44%) in 2023 and 24 out of 34 (70%) in 2024 have been transferred to the situation room, contributing to its stable operation.
Based on these achievements, the internship program is becoming an opportunity for participants to recognize the importance of collaboration throughout the entire process from emergency call receipt to dispatch, and to enhance their practical response capabilities.
The headquarters plans to continue operating the program to secure the golden time and enable rapid rescue and fire suppression.
Lee Osook, Chief of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Fire Headquarters, said, "This internship program is expected to greatly help field personnel by providing them with opportunities to directly experience situation room duties, thereby increasing their understanding of overall firefighting operations and enhancing their practical skills. We will continue to do our best to train professional personnel who can serve as a bridge between the field and the situation room."
