Research on Improving Local Utility Tunnel Ventilation Systems
Expectations for Energy Savings and Enhanced Operational Efficiency
Gumi Urban Corporation in Gyeongbuk is partnering with Kumoh National Institute of Technology to engage in industry-academic cooperation aimed at improving local public facilities.
On February 25, Gumi Urban Corporation announced on the 4th that it had signed a joint research agreement with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kumoh National Institute of Technology to improve the city’s utility tunnels.
The utility tunnels in Songjeong-dong area of Gumi City serve as urban infrastructure that collectively houses underground installations such as power, telecommunications, and water supply. Through this agreement, research will be conducted to enhance the efficiency of the ventilation system.
In collaboration with the Alternative Energy Laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Department, the performance of the ventilation equipment inside the utility tunnels will be analyzed, and optimal improvement measures will be derived through equipment performance evaluation and simulation.
Gumi Urban Corporation expects this research to contribute to reducing energy consumption and increasing facility operation efficiency.
