On the afternoon of the 4th, Gwangju City held the "Gwangju City Small Business and SME Management Consultation Mobile Hope Bus" and the "Traditional Market Sharing Event" at the Citizen Hall on the first floor of City Hall, together with the Korea Employers Federation and the KEF SME Cooperation Center.
More than 100 people attended the event, including Mayor Kang Gijung, Vice Chairman Kim Changbeom of the Korea Employers Federation and its management advisory group, Nam District Mayor Kim Byungnae, and local small business owners.
Mayor Kang has been prioritizing "reviving the economy" through visits to Kia Autoland Gwangju, Kumho Tire, and economic roundtables. This event was also organized to support small and medium-sized enterprises struggling with business difficulties due to the economic downturn and weakened consumer sentiment, and to invigorate traditional markets.
During the "Mobile Hope Bus Management Consultation," the management advisory group provided one-on-one customized management consulting to seven local small businesses and thirty-three SMEs. The advisory group consists of former CEOs and executives from major groups such as Samsung, Hyundai Motor, SK, and LG, as well as current legal and management experts.
Participating companies prepared consultation request forms in advance for areas such as management strategy, HR and labor, technology, production and quality, and sales and marketing. On site, they discussed their management difficulties directly with experts and sought solutions. The Employers Federation also plans to support the Mudeung Market Merchants Association with approximately 30 million won for the renovation of old drainage pipes and customer restroom facilities as part of its traditional market sharing initiative.
The city and the Employers Federation plan to use this event as an opportunity to strengthen tailored consulting support for SMEs and small businesses, and to continue cooperation to revitalize local commercial districts such as traditional markets.
Kim Changbeom, Vice Chairman of the Korea Employers Federation, said, "We often hear that the economy is difficult these days. Nevertheless, we came running to support small business owners who do not lose hope through the Hope Bus," and added, "The Employers Federation will continue to work for the development of the local economy and the creation of better jobs."
Mayor Kang Gijung said, "I thank the Korea Employers Federation for joining us in creating a growth ladder for small businesses and SMEs, which are the core of the Gwangju economy," and added, "The city will continue to implement tailored policies until the day small businesses and SMEs overcome crises and achieve their hopes."
