Gwangju city officials who caused controversies due to trespassing, urinating in convenience stores, insurance fraud, and drunk driving were massively caught in an audit.
According to the Gwangju Audit Committee on the 4th, official A visited his ex-girlfriend's house last year and entered the house several times without permission by pressing the lock code despite the victim's refusal. The prosecution applied the charge of trespassing to A and issued a summary order with a fine of 700,000 won.
Last year, B unlawfully entered the office next to the counter of a convenience store in Gwangju and urinated while intoxicated. B was sued for trespassing but received a non-prosecution disposition from the prosecution.
C, after being hospitalized in a Korean medicine hospital due to a traffic accident in 2023, falsely claimed 600,000 won in nursing insurance benefits by pretending to hire family members as caregivers and received a summary order with a fine of 500,000 won for violating the Special Act on Prevention of Insurance Fraud.
D was caught covering the rear license plate of his vehicle with paper to avoid parking enforcement and received a non-prosecution disposition from the prosecution.
The Gwangju Audit Committee also uncovered cases of drunk driving and improper receipt of overtime pay due to proxy input during commuting hours, requesting the city to impose 13 disciplinary actions and 1 warning on a total of 14 people.
