Police: "If necessary on Yoon's impeachment trial verdict day, use baton and capsaicin"
The police announced that they will use batons and capsaisin if necessary on the day of the Constitutional Court's ruling on the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
Lee Ho-young, acting commissioner of the National Police Agency, said at a regular press briefing on the 4th, "We will mobilize all police forces to prevent incidents like those in the past," adding, "If necessary, the on-site commander may decide to use them."
Regarding the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's proposal for a 'Gapho Emergency,' the acting commissioner said, "We are positively reviewing it," and added, "If the situation spreads nationwide, each provincial police agency plans to take corresponding measures."
The police stated that they are investigating a total of 137 people in connection with the riot at the Seoul Western District Court. A police official said, "87 have been detained, and 50 are under investigation without detention," and added, "We have also thoroughly investigated the behind-the-scenes forces."
Regarding the investigation into Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon's charges of inciting rebellion, a police official explained, "The complainant's investigation has been completed, and related persons are being questioned," adding, "No summons schedule has been set for Pastor Jeon."

Currently, 111 suspects have been booked in connection with the December 3 emergency martial law incident. A police official stated, "There are 29 government and party officials, 62 police officers, and 20 military personnel," and added, "Eight have been sent for prosecution, 18 transferred, and the rest are under investigation."
