Jongno-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Munheon) has achieved the honor of being selected as an excellent institution by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in the '2024 Local Government Innovation Evaluation.'
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted this evaluation targeting a total of 243 local governments nationwide to strengthen the autonomous innovation capabilities of local governments and drive the creation of innovation outcomes that residents can experience.

View original imageJongno-gu, chosen as an excellent institution, received high scores across the board in areas such as the head of the institution's innovation leadership, participation and internalization of innovation activities, improvement of resident services and elimination of administrative blind spots, removal of barriers and cooperation, data and AI-based scientific administration, and discovery and response to policies for future generations.
In particular, it received favorable reviews for designating the 'Bukchon Special Management Zone' to protect residents' housing rights and promote a proper tourism culture, and for operating the 'Resource Circulation Smart Experience Vehicle,' which utilizes the unique mobility of small cars to raise residents' awareness of waste separation and contribute to reducing waste discharge.
Additionally, efforts were recognized through sector-specific policies that residents can feel in their daily lives. Representative examples include the establishment of the support platform 'Jongno Sajang' to strengthen the digital competitiveness of small business owners, the introduction of 'Excavation Protection Plates' to ensure pedestrian safety, and the 'Jongno Emergency Bell' linked to 119 to prevent flooding in underground housing.
