Gwangju City Conducts Special Safety Inspections at Public Construction Sites
Special Safety Inspections for 26 Road and Building Construction Sites Until the 7th
The Gwangju General Construction Headquarters announced on the 1st that it will conduct a special safety inspection at public construction sites until the 7th to prevent collapse accidents in advance.
This safety inspection will target 26 road construction and public building projects commissioned by the city. For the special safety inspection, the Gwangju General Construction Headquarters has organized two inspection teams consisting of nine public officials and six private experts in architecture, civil engineering, and safety fields.
The inspection teams will check: ▲ the status of safety measures for lifting equipment and heavy object operations ▲ the installation status of construction equipment (such as cranes and pile drivers) and anti-toppling measures ▲ risk factors at the site such as cracks or collapses in structures. In particular, three road bridge construction sites and three building construction sites will undergo joint inspections involving site officials and experts in civil engineering and safety management.
Shin Jaeuk, head of the General Construction Headquarters, said, “If any defects are found at the construction sites, we plan to promptly implement safety measures, analyze risk factors, and carry out precise safety inspections and repairs or reinforcements as tailored improvements. We will focus on protecting the safety and lives of workers and prepare for safety accidents.”
