View original imageAfter Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province was selected as the domestic candidate city for the 2036 Summer Olympics, surpassing Seoul, voices of welcome have continued from various sectors within the province.
The Jeonbuk Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea stated in a statement the previous day, "We thank everyone, including Governor Kim Kwanyoung, who contributed to the Olympic bid," and emphasized, "Jeonbuk is the place that can host the Olympics in a way that is both most Korean and global." The statement continued, "Although there are still difficult processes remaining until the final selection, we must turn this into an opportunity to elevate the history of Jeonbuk and the status of the Republic of Korea."
The Jeonbuk Provincial Council also commented, "It has been imprinted on the entire nation that Jeonbuk is the optimal city for achieving balanced national development," and evaluated it as "a golden opportunity to showcase the province's potential and capabilities to the world." In addition, the council promised, "We will actively support the final selection of the host city in cooperation with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, the government, and related organizations."
The Jeonbuk City and County Council Chairpersons' Council and the Jeonbuk Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council also issued statements, pledging, "Together with the residents, we will ensure the final selection of Jeonbuk as the Olympic host."
