Haenam County Signs MOU to Establish AI Supercluster Hub

Establishment of AI Computing Infrastructure
in the Enterprise City

Haenam County, Jeonnam Province (Governor Myung Hyun-gwan) announced on the 27th that it had signed a business agreement for the establishment of the 'Solaseado AI Supercluster Hub' with Jeonnam Province, Fir Hills, and Southwest Coast Enterprise City Development at the Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco, USA, on the 26th local time.

The signing ceremony was attended by Governor Myung Hyun-gwan, Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok, Fir Hills Co-Chair Amin Badr El Din, BS Industry Vice Chairman Ko Hyung-kwon, Haenam County Council Chairman Lee Sung-ok, as well as officials from Haenam County, Jeonnam Province, and representatives of the investing companies.

According to the agreement, Fir Hills will establish a large-scale AI supercluster hub in the enterprise city of Haenam County, while Jeonnam Province, Haenam County, and Southwest Coast Enterprise City Development Co., Ltd. will do their utmost to provide administrative support, such as amending development plans, to ensure successful investment.

Fir Hills plans to invest a total of 15 trillion KRW by 2030 to build the world's largest AI supercluster hub with more than 3 gigawatts (GW) of AI computing infrastructure, data centers, and large-scale ESS (energy storage systems).

With the rapid growth of the AI and data center industry markets, the establishment of a large-scale AI supercluster hub in the Solaseado enterprise city is expected to attract leading global data companies and major domestic corporations participating in RE100.

Governor Myung Hyun-gwan stated, "Solaseado enterprise city was designated as an Opportunity Development Zone last year and is evaluated as an area optimized for new industries such as renewable energy and data centers. This agreement is expected to greatly boost the revitalization of Solaseado enterprise city through corporate attraction."
