View original imageThe Gwangju Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director Kim Seokgi) announced on the 25th that, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day and the March 1st Movement, it paid respects at the graves of six independence patriots, including Park Taean.
The memorial ceremony, held on Soando Island in Wando, Jeollanam-do, was attended by Kim Seokgi, Director of the Gwangju Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Kim Gwangseon, President of the Soan Anti-Japanese Movement Memorial Association, and about 20 bereaved family members and others. The participants visited the graves of the independence patriots in turn and carried out cleaning activities.
Kim Seokgi, Director of the Gwangju Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, stated, "Visiting Soando, known as the 'island of anti-Japanese resistance' and famous for its leading role in the independence movement, and paying respects at the graves of the independence patriots is a deeply moving experience," adding, "We will continue to honor and take responsibility for all heroes who sacrificed and devoted themselves to the nation, realizing 'living patriots and veterans affairs in everyday life, patriots and veterans affairs for everyone.'"
