"Leading Industry with Super-Gap Technology"... ATC Association Elects Lee Jae-jung as Chairman
The Association of Advanced Technology Centers (hereinafter ATC) announced on the 25th that it held the 2025 regular general meeting and New Year's greeting event, and elected the 10th new president.
At the general meeting held on the 24th at Melon Hall, EL Tower in Seoul, about 100 CEOs and executives of ATC member companies attended. At this event, Lee Jae-jung, CEO of Mekaro, was unanimously elected by the member companies as the 10th president to lead the ATC Association.
Lee Jae-jung, the new president of the ATC Association, is the CEO of Mekaro, a semiconductor parts specialist company known for heater blocks, and has been recognized for his outstanding technical skills, receiving the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Industrial Development Merit Award in 2006, the Minister of Knowledge Economy Commendation in 2011, and the Prime Minister's Commendation in 2012.
In his inaugural speech, President Lee stated, "With the belief that crisis is opportunity, cooperation is necessary to secure a super-gap technology among member companies," and expressed his ambition to "actively promote projects for the sustainable growth and development of member companies."
He also emphasized three key initiatives: "activation of exchanges among member companies," "securing sustainability of ATC projects," and "strengthening communication based on trust."
Hwang Jun-hyun, the 9th president and CEO of Cravis, who was appointed honorary president on the same day, said, "I am grateful to the member companies and executives who have been with us for the past two years," and urged, "Under the leadership of the new president Lee Jae-jung, I hope ATC companies take pride and grow into world-class technology companies."
The ATC Association was established in 2003 to operate technology exchange meetings and promote technological innovation among companies designated as Advanced Technology Centers (ATC) and Advanced Technology Center+ (ATC+) by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The Advanced Technology Center+ (ATC+) project is an R&D initiative by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy aimed at fostering corporate research institutes with outstanding innovation capabilities as key players in industrial innovation. Compared to the Ministry’s general R&D projects in 2022, it has achieved excellent results such as a higher commercialization success rate (42% for general projects vs. 61% for ATC), and sales generated per 1 billion KRW of government support (9.9 billion KRW for general projects vs. 23.9 billion KRW for ATC).
