Personalized One-on-One Smoking Cessation Counseling for Six Months and More

View original imageHwasun Chonnam National University Hospital announced on the 24th that the Jeonnam Smoking Cessation Support Center recently signed a business agreement with Jeonnam Jeil Rehabilitation Hospital to expand the network for providing smoking cessation support services to inpatients.
The signing ceremony, held at Jeonnam Jeil Rehabilitation Hospital, was attended by Choi Yuri, Director of the Jeonnam Smoking Cessation Support Center and Professor of Family Medicine at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, as well as Ji Seunggyu, Chief Director of Jeonnam Jeil Rehabilitation Hospital, and other working-level staff from both institutions.
Through this agreement, the Jeonnam Smoking Cessation Support Center will provide professional smoking cessation support services to inpatients at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, Chonnam National University Hospital, Suncheon Medical Center, and Jeonnam Jeil Rehabilitation Hospital.
To increase the smoking cessation attempt and success rates among inpatients, the Jeonnam Smoking Cessation Support Center plans to offer various programs, including six months of personalized one-on-one counseling and education, provision of nicotine replacement therapy, and referral to smoking cessation clinics.
Designated as a regional private consignment project since 2015, the Jeonnam Smoking Cessation Support Center at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has been operating smoking cessation programs for residents of Jeonnam Province. In 2024, it was additionally designated as a specialized center for inpatient smoking cessation support services.
Choi Yuri, the center director, stated, "We will do our best this year to expand smoking cessation services in collaboration with public medical institutions in the Jeonnam region," and added, "We aim to contribute to improving the smoking cessation practice rate among Jeonnam residents and the attempt rate among patients with acute and chronic diseases who need to quit smoking."
