View original imageAt 2:54 p.m. on the 22nd, a wildfire broke out in a wooded hill in Sinsang-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon, and was extinguished after two hours.
The Korea Forest Service deployed five firefighting helicopters, 19 fire trucks, and 91 personnel, completing the extinguishing operation at around 4:50 p.m.
The authorities suspect that the wildfire was caused by a fire at a farm shelter that spread, and plan to investigate the cause and the exact area damaged through a wildfire investigation and inspection team.
An official from the Central Wildfire Prevention Headquarters of the Korea Forest Service said, "During the dry and windy spring season, even a small spark can develop into a large wildfire if neglected," urging thorough management of fire sources.
