Nadella: "Practical Quantum Computers Could Become Reality Within Years"
When Microsoft (MS) unveiled groundbreaking quantum computing technology, Cho Joo-wan, President of LG Electronics, expressed his anticipation, calling it "the future of next-generation computing innovation."
On the 20th (local time), Satya Nadella, CEO of MS, posted about 'quantum computing' on LinkedIn. In response, President Cho commented, "Congratulations on MS's amazing innovation."
President Cho added, "There is great expectation for the future of next-generation computing innovation, and I hope we can explore potential collaboration opportunities with LG Electronics."
On the same day, MS announced its self-developed quantum computing chip, 'Majorana 1.' Following Google, MS's release of an independent quantum computing chip is expected to intensify competition surrounding this technology.
Majorana 1 is palm-sized and, unlike conventional superconducting qubits (the basic computational units of quantum computers), utilizes 'topological qubits.' Topological qubits have the characteristic of maintaining their essence even when their shape changes, making them a focus as next-generation superconducting qubits.
CEO Nadella stated, "This technology breaks the prediction that developing practical quantum computers would take decades, increasing the possibility of realization within a few years."
