Acting President Choi Meets Singapore Parliament Speaker... "Expanding Digital and AI Cooperation"
Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Economy and Finance, met with Shia Kian Peng, Speaker of the Singapore Parliament, who is visiting Korea on the 20th, to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in digital and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced.
Acting President Choi welcomed Speaker Shia as the first high-level official from Singapore to visit Korea on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, stating, "This demonstrates the strong will to develop the bilateral relationship."
Speaker Shia expressed gratitude for Acting President Choi's welcome and conveyed the importance of Korea-Singapore relations along with firm trust and support for Korea's democracy and economic resilience.
Acting President Choi expressed hope that despite the uncertain international trade environment, the two countries, as optimal partners leading future advanced industries, will expand cooperation especially in areas such as digital and artificial intelligence (AI), alongside increasing trade and investment.
He also requested Singapore's active support and attention for Korean companies investing and operating in Singapore. In response, Speaker Shia stated that the Singapore Parliament will also take an interest and make efforts to develop the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Both sides agreed that North Korea's continued development and provocations of nuclear missiles pose a serious threat to peace and stability in the region and the international community as a whole, and they shared the view that a united and resolute response from the international community is necessary.
