Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education will provide entrance preparation funds to new elementary, middle, and high school students this year.
On the 20th, the Gwangju Office of Education announced that it will support '2025 Entrance Preparation Funds' for new elementary, middle, and high school students to strengthen the public nature of education and realize universal educational welfare.
The entrance preparation fund is a policy introduced in 2022 to help new students purchase items they need directly or indirectly, such as school uniforms, gym clothes, and books.
This year, the city office of education will allocate a total of 9.8 billion won, providing 100,000 won for new elementary school students and 300,000 won for new middle and high school students.
After the new semester begins in March, schools will inform students and parents through home correspondence and other means, and the funds will be paid in cash at the end of March.
Superintendent Lee Jungseon said, "I hope that the entrance preparation fund will help reduce the financial burden on parents," and added, "We will actively support students so that they can continue their studies in a stable environment."
