Busan City Holds Press Conference at Busan Concert Hall... First Pipe Organ Unveiled in Non-Capital Region

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Shin Chang-ho) unveiled the pipe organ of the Busan Concert Hall, completed in August last year, for the first time.
The pipe organ, revealed for the first time at a press conference held by Busan City on the 17th, is the first pipe organ outside the Seoul metropolitan area. It consists of 4,406 pipes and 62 stops and was manufactured by the German company Freiburger.
The event was attended by Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Artistic Director Chung Myung-whun, and Park Min-jung, CEO of Classic Busan, with Rainer Janke, Chief Voicing Engineer of Freiburger, demonstrating the pipe organ.
Classic Busan is preparing various performance programs, starting with the opening concert on June 20, conducted by Artistic Director Chung Myung-whun and performed by the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra (APO), followed by pianist Cho Seong-jin's recital and more.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “Through the pipe organ, the first of its kind outside the metropolitan area, we will establish Busan's musical diversity and make classical music more accessible to citizens.”

Located within Busan Citizens Park, the Busan Concert Hall has a total floor area of 19,862㎡, spanning from one basement floor to three above ground floors. It features a 2,000-seat concert hall dedicated to classical music, a 400-seat chamber hall (multi-purpose small performance hall), rehearsal rooms, and more. The total project cost was 110.7 billion KRW, and it was completed in August last year.
