Promoting a Lifelong Learning City for the Disabled
Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, has taken the first step toward realizing an educational environment where everyone is happy.
According to Sancheong-gun on the 20th, it was the only city in Gyeongnam Province selected this year as a lifelong learning city hosted by the Ministry of Education.
As a lifelong learning city, it will receive a total of 90 million KRW in national funding over three years to promote the project. The "Lifelong Learning City for the Disabled" project was established to expand lifelong education programs according to the type and degree of disability and to build a foundation through the formation of networks and councils with related organizations.
This year, 14 local governments were selected, and Sancheong-gun was the only one selected in Gyeongnam. Starting in March, Sancheong-gun plans to set the vision of "Barrier-Free Lifelong Learning City for the Disabled Growing Together."
It also plans to promote various lifelong education projects for the disabled, including customized education by disability type, cultural and arts education, and employment linkage courses.
In particular, it will support professional education operations and easily accessible learning environments through collaboration with Sanencheong Welfare Center, Sancheong-gun Sign Language Interpretation Center, and Sancheong-gun Disabled Family Support Center.
