Yangsan City in Gyeongnam successfully held a ramen cooking contest under the slogan "Boil it! Taste it! Grow it!" on the 16th at Tongsami Park in Baekho Village, Yangsan, utilizing local agricultural products.
This event was a collaboration between Yangsan City, Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology, Yangsan Youth Center, and the social enterprise 'Imojeomo.' It aimed to actively utilize local agricultural products and provide young people with new experiences and opportunities for communication through cooperation with the local community. Held near the local food direct sales market, the event sought to promote the value of local agricultural products and revitalize the nearby commercial district.
Tongsami Park in Baekho Village, Yangsan, the venue of the contest, was filled with about 300 spectators on the day of the event, in contrast to its usual weekday quietness. Each team showcased creative ramen dishes using local agricultural products, leaving a strong impression on the judges, including the Mulgeum-eup mayor and the deputy director of the Yangsan Family Center, as well as the audience.
A total of 33 teams and over 80 participants presented various ramen dishes using local agricultural products. After preliminary rounds in four categories?family, senior, youth, and adolescents?eight teams advanced to the finals. Among the outstanding dishes in each category, the senior team’s Doenjang Ramen won the grand prize.
