18 Dead in Stampede at Festival Crowd Gathering at New Delhi Train Station
A stampede occurred at New Delhi railway station in India, resulting in 18 deaths.
According to the Hindustan Times and other sources on the 16th (local time), the stampede happened around 8 p.m. the previous day on the platform of New Delhi railway station as passengers rushed to board a train bound for Prayagraj in northern Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities reported that at least 18 people died and more than 10 were injured in the incident. Among the deceased were three children.
Local police stated that the accident occurred when an express train to Prayagraj arrived at platform 14, and people crowded to board the train.
