Preventing the Progression of Severe Dementia in Patients with Mild Dementia
Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) announced on the 13th that the Public Health Center Dementia Safety Center will operate the dementia patient rest center program ‘Gieok Yeolmae Classroom’ to prevent the progression of severe dementia and reduce the caregiving burden on families.
‘Gieok Yeolmae Classroom’ is a program designed to prevent the progression of dementia in patients with mild dementia through specialized cognitive stimulation programs and caregiving services.
The eligible participants include ▲mild dementia patients registered at the Gijang-gun Dementia Safety Center ▲those who have not applied for long-term care certification ▲and those not using long-term care services (including those on the waiting list).
The program will be conducted for about 10 mild dementia patients from February 24 to November 14, over 10 months, five times a week (three sessions in the morning, two in the afternoon) at the Gijang-gun Dementia Safety Center program room.
A nationally licensed professional occupational therapist will participate and operate various programs such as ▲cognitive rehabilitation programs (occupational therapy, music therapy, art therapy) ▲cognitive training (workbooks, computerized cognitive programs).
