On the 13th, a fire broke out on a fishing boat carrying 11 people near the coast of Buan-gun, Jeonbuk, prompting Go Gidong, Acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, to issue an urgent order to "exert all efforts for rescue operations."
Acting Minister Go stated in the morning, "The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Korea Coast Guard, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, Buan-gun, and related agencies should mobilize all available resources to fully commit to rescuing lives," adding, "Please pay special attention to ensuring the safety of rescue workers and support personnel during the process."
Earlier that day, at around 8:39 a.m., the Coast Guard received a report of a fire on a 34-ton fishing boat operating near Wangdeungdo, Buan-gun, Jeonbuk. It is known that 11 people, including the captain and crew members, were on board the vessel.
