Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital Shares 'Hope Stories' of Overcoming Cancer
Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital (Director: Min Jungjun) announced on the 13th that it will release "Cancer Hope Essays," a collection of stories written by cancer patients and their caregivers about overcoming their battles with the disease.
The essays being released this time contain vivid accounts from patients and their families, covering everything from early cancer detection to the treatment process, overcoming the illness, and caregiving experiences.
The essay contest was organized by the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Cancer Center and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Cancer Survivor Integrated Support Center at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital. It was established to foster understanding among cancer patients and their families, to inspire hope, and to encourage cancer prevention practices in daily life.
This year marks the 10th edition of the contest, which received a total of 24 entries. Four essays were selected as winners, including "Back to Everyday Life," "The Story of a Young Man Without an Ending," "Early Hardships Made Me Stronger," and "A Second Life."
Since 2015, the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Cancer Center has published a book every year under the theme "You Are Precious," compiling essays about overcoming cancer. These books feature moving stories from patients who received cancer treatment and surgery at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital.
Director Min Jungjun stated, "I hope the publication of these essays will give courage and hope to patients and families currently fighting cancer," adding, "We will continue to carry out various activities for cancer prevention and overcoming the disease in the future."
