Kim Bora, mayor of Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, received the Excellence Award in the Comprehensive Regional Economic Revitalization category at the 'Democratic Party Local Autonomy Awards' held at the National Assembly Library Auditorium on the 10th.

View original imageThis award ceremony was organized by the Democracy Research Institute and hosted by the Korea Policy Management Institute to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the implementation of local autonomy. It is a system established at the party level to evaluate the major policy achievements of local government heads and to promote excellent local policies.
The evaluation was divided into local administration evaluations and excellent policy evaluations across eight major categories: basic society, population decline, climate crisis response, autonomous administration, and regional economic revitalization.
The city explained that Mayor Kim was highly evaluated for actively promoting various policies aligned with the Democratic Party’s pursuit of a basic society, such as the phased implementation of free transportation, support for farmers' basic income, and provision of bathing and beauty expenses for the elderly. Additionally, the 'Win-Win Cooperation Type Jobs' for local seniors and the 'Social Problem-Solving Jobs' that address elderly poverty and loneliness through work?together forming the 'Anseong-Matchum Type Senior Win-Win Job Model'?were recognized as excellent policies offering solutions to social problems arising from the increasing elderly population.
Furthermore, the creation of a semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment specialized complex, strengthening manufacturing competitiveness, and regional economic revitalization policies through local currency, among other diverse policies aimed at job creation and economic revitalization, were also factors behind the award.
