Israel Defense Minister Orders Preparation of Gaza Resident Relocation Plan
Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the military on the 6th (local time) to prepare a draft plan for the voluntary relocation of Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip, according to reports by the Times of Israel and the Washington Post (WP).
Minister Katz issued a statement saying, "I welcome President Donald Trump's bold plan to enable a significant number of Gaza residents to relocate to various destinations around the world," adding, "We will allow them to depart to any country willing to accept them through land exit routes, special measures via sea or air."
President Trump, after holding a summit with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the previous day, announced a plan at a joint press conference to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and for the United States to take long-term ownership and develop the Gaza Strip.
Minister Katz stated, "Hamas has used Gaza residents as human shields, built terrorist infrastructure in the heart of the area, and now holds residents hostage, extorts money from humanitarian aid, and prevents them from leaving Gaza."
He also criticized three countries?Spain, Ireland, and Norway?that declared formal recognition of Palestine as a state last May, saying, "Countries that have falsely accused Israel of actions in the Gaza Strip and refuse to accept Gaza residents will have their hypocrisy exposed." He also mentioned Canada, which had previously expressed willingness to accept Gaza residents.

Minister Katz added, "Gaza residents should be free to leave and migrate anywhere in the world, as is the case everywhere else," and said, "President Trump's plan could advance a disarmed Gaza reconstruction plan that poses no threat in the post-Hamas era."
