Jo Jeonghun: "No Early Presidential Election Movement... Handonghun's Entry Would Be Negative Politics"
"No Moves Within the Party to Prepare for an Early Presidential Election"
"Impeachment Trial Must Be Procedurally Flawless for the Outcome to Be Accepted"
As the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk-yeol continues, increasing the possibility of an early presidential election, Jo Jeong-hoon, a member of the People Power Party, stated, "To be clear about the party's position, there will be no early presidential election."
On the 6th, Jo said on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "Some media outlets seem to be urging preparations for an early presidential election, but unless I am an outcast in this party, there is absolutely no movement to prepare for an early election."

While some of the party's approval ratings are due to our efforts, a significant portion is a reflection of others' misfortunes. We are working tirelessly to establish support among the 2030 generation, but we are not assuming an early election, and even if told to prepare, we will not do so."
Regarding Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo's declaration of presidential ambitions, Jo said, "What can we do about those outside Yeouido?" He continued, "The impeachment trial must proceed without procedural flaws for all citizens to accept the outcome. Our priority is to respond humbly to the current suspicions and criticisms."
Jo also addressed rumors about former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon entering the race, calling it "negative politics," and said, "The party's position is that there will be no early presidential election, so if he comes in and shows signs of preparing, it would be negative politics again." He added, "Many party supporters are shouting about the unfairness of the impeachment, but regardless, if someone says, 'The president is impeached, and next is me,' there won't be many supporters in our party applauding."
Regarding President Yoon's fifth hearing on the 4th, Jo said, "It seems the Constitutional Court is shaking," and criticized, "It's not the people shaking it, but the Constitutional Court itself is recklessly shaking its reason for existence and legitimacy."

He said, "The Constitutional Court is not an elected power but an appointed power," and added, "Each appointed power is deciding whether to maintain the elected power, the president. Instead of being humble, it seems to be speeding up recklessly." He continued, "When asked questions by the people, it seems as if they are saying, 'We are the elected power, so what's the problem?'" and "It makes the people feel incredulous."
