Hyundai Mobis Utilizes Big Data in Operations... Establishes Data Map
Hyundai Mobis is transforming its way of working by strengthening its business systems using big data.
On the 6th, Hyundai Mobis announced that it will expand the operation of a data portal that allows easy searching of vast amounts of business system data and provides visualized data through algorithmic analysis.
Previously, Hyundai Mobis operated about 100 different business systems across the company, covering production, purchasing, research and development, and other management areas. It was almost impossible to easily search the vast amounts of data stored in each system according to specific purposes.
To address this, Hyundai Mobis built a data map on the portal, linking over 16,000 category data items connected to about 100 business systems. The data map is characterized by organically connecting and structuring data from the distributed 100 systems. Data was classified by business area, stage, and system.
While building this data map, Hyundai Mobis also carried out terminology standardization. The existing 300,000 terms were reorganized into about 30,000 standard terms to improve data analysis quality. Furthermore, after finding data that meets the desired conditions, users can request analysis on the portal and receive the results as visualized data.
For example, if a safety management officer searches and requests analysis of production process video data, the algorithm analyzes the worker’s movements and provides the results. Based on these results, the officer can derive safety environment improvement plans considering worker safety and fatigue. Hyundai Mobis introduced big data technology into its operations as a preliminary step to actively utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). Improving data quality is essential for AI adoption in business.
