Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism: "No Damage to Storage at Hangul Museum Fire"
On the morning of the 1st, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that there was no damage to the first-floor storage room where artifacts are kept in relation to the fire accident at the National Hangeul Museum in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. However, it added that, in preparation for any emergency, the stored artifacts are being dispersed and moved to the National Museum of Korea.

The ministry stated that the fire occurred on the stairs between the 3rd and 4th floors of the museum, and it is estimated that the fire, which started on the 4th-floor rooftop during the dismantling of the steel stairs, spread to the 3rd floor. It also added that the fire is being extinguished, and while there were no casualties among the workers during this process, one firefighter is presumed to have been injured.
The fire broke out around 8:40 a.m. at the museum, and firefighting authorities are currently on site extinguishing the fire.
