Reappointment of Choi Hee-jun as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of Suwon Municipal Education Orchestra
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province has reappointed Choi Hee-jun as the artistic director and principal conductor of the Suwon City Symphony Orchestra. The appointment period is from February 1 to January 31, 2027.
On the 31st, Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun presented the appointment letter to Artistic Director Choi Hee-jun in his office.
Artistic Director Choi Hee-jun completed the highest performance courses at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Dresden University of Music in Germany, and then worked as an assistant conductor at the Saxon State Theatre in Germany.

View original imageDomestically, he has served as conductor of the Korean Symphony Orchestra, conductor of the Saturday Concerts at Seoul Arts Center, and principal conductor of the Jeonju Philharmonic Orchestra. In January 2019, he was appointed as the 7th artistic director and principal conductor of the Suwon City Symphony Orchestra. He is currently a professor in the Department of Orchestral Music at Hanyang University. He is recognized for his comprehensive musical capabilities and orchestra management skills.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon said, "I hope the Suwon City Symphony Orchestra will hold many performances that citizens can truly feel," and urged, "Please support the development of local arts."
