Golden Time Defense! ...Songpa-gu Provides Emergency First Aid Training for All Residents

Ensuring Resident Safety through Rapid Response in Emergencies
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that starting from February, it will conduct ‘Rescue and First Aid Training’ for all residents to improve rapid response capabilities in emergency situations.
According to statistics from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, about 100 acute cardiac arrest patients occur daily, and survival rates drop sharply if more than 4 minutes pass during emergencies such as cardiac arrest.
Accordingly, Songpa-gu is promoting ‘Rescue and First Aid Training’ so that any resident can perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within the golden time (4 minutes), operating from February to November.
The Songpa-gu Public Health Center conducts training for all residents on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month, and the Songpa Safety Experience Education Center provides mandatory education for legal duty subjects such as childcare facility workers and health managers every Monday and Wednesday.
The training is conducted by disaster safety professional instructors who provide practical education on ▲rescue and first aid procedures ▲cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) ▲use of automated external defibrillators (AED) to prepare for various accidents that may occur in daily life.
Additionally, ‘Visiting CPR Training’ is conducted by visiting groups such as schools and companies directly. Professional instructors bring various safety experience equipment and teach emergency response methods tailored to different age groups.
Especially this year, the program plans to focus on high-risk patients, their families, and volunteers as priority education targets to ensure appropriate first aid is provided within the golden time at home or in non-public places.
Applications are open to any Songpa-gu resident or worker located in Songpa-gu, and can be made through the Songpa-gu Public Health Center website.
