Traffic congestion on the highway eases gradually from evening on the second day of the holiday
As the evening of the second day of the Lunar New Year holiday, the 26th, approached, most of the traffic congestion on highways nationwide was cleared.
According to Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 8 p.m. that day, the estimated travel times from Seoul Tollgate to major cities nationwide were 4 hours 30 minutes to Busan, 4 hours 20 minutes to Ulsan, 3 hours 20 minutes to Daegu, 3 hours 40 minutes to Mokpo, 3 hours 20 minutes to Gwangju, 1 hour 32 minutes to Daejeon, and 2 hours 40 minutes to Gangneung.
The estimated travel times from each city to Seoul are the same.
While traffic congestion has eased on most highway sections, congestion is occurring near Jamwon IC on the Gyeongbu Expressway heading toward Busan. The Seohaean Expressway, which had some slow sections until the afternoon, now allows for smooth speeds on most parts.

The Expressway Corporation expected that 4.25 million vehicles would travel nationwide that day, including 410,000 vehicles moving from the metropolitan area to local regions and 300,000 vehicles moving from local regions to the metropolitan area.
