This campaign was joined by about 30 people, including officials from Naju City and honorary inspectors from the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service. They distributed leaflets and signs about origin labeling, as well as promotional wet tissues, to inform citizens and merchants of the importance of proper origin labeling.
The campaign focused on traditional markets and businesses selling agricultural products and processed goods, providing guidance on compliance with origin labeling and proper labeling methods. Minor violations found during inspections were immediately corrected on site.
In particular, the city visited roadside direct sales stores and distribution companies along national highways that sell Naju pears, focusing on inspecting the origin labeling on pear boxes and cracking down on acts of disguising pears from other regions as Naju pears.
A Naju City official said, "As demand for agricultural products for ritual and gift purposes increases ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, accurate origin labeling is more important than ever," and added, "We hope that traditional markets become places where consumers can safely purchase healthy agricultural products."
