"Re-highlighting the Maritime Exchange Hub and Historical Value"
Shinan County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Park Woorang), held a completion ceremony for the Yellow Sea Exchange Museum at the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden in Aphae-eup on the 24th.
The newly completed Yellow Sea Exchange Museum was built with a total project cost of 12.3 billion KRW. The building has three floors above ground, with a total floor area of 2,869 square meters, and consists of exhibition halls, a banquet hall, and a cafe. The overall exterior was inspired by the Shinan Ship, which was excavated off the coast of Shinan, and features a classical and elegant appearance.

The special exhibition hall on the second floor hosts exhibitions on the cultural exchange history of the Yellow Sea, and the cafe on the third floor boasts a unique atmosphere reflecting the local character, with its design concept inspired by Shinan’s laver.
A special performance was also prepared to commemorate the completion ceremony. A commemorative concert blending Korean traditional music and classical genres was held, featuring haegeum player Professor Noh Euna from Seoul National University and saxophonist Jung Jin. In addition, the opening ceremony of the Black Paper Cafe, which offers snacks and bread made with Shinan’s laver, was held simultaneously.
Governor Park Woorang stated, "Through the Shinan Ship and Musimsa Temple Site, Shinan is being re-illuminated as a maritime exchange hub and a region of significant historical value. The Yellow Sea Exchange Museum will play an important role in further enhancing the status of Shinan County."
The newly completed Yellow Sea Exchange Museum is expected to establish itself as an important cultural facility that once again confirms Shinan County’s role as a hub in the maritime exchange history of Shinan and East Asian cultural history.
