Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myung Hyun-gwan) will provide 200,000 KRW per person as a Livelihood Economic Recovery Support Fund to all residents in order to revitalize the stagnant local economy during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
According to the county on the 23rd, the recipients are residents registered in Haenam-gun as of 6:00 PM on January 23, 2025. The support will be provided in the form of Haenam Sarang Gift Certificates, a local currency, to encourage local consumption.

The county expects that directly providing the support fund will offer tangible economic benefits to residents struggling with high prices and economic stagnation, and that the effects will be evenly distributed to small business owners and self-employed individuals, leading to early economic revitalization.
With the ongoing economic downturn, the county has been consistently reviewing the plan to provide the Livelihood Economic Recovery Support Fund since the end of last year, and has maintained close consultations with National Assembly Member Park Ji-won and Haenam County Council. In January, the county began enacting an ordinance for the support fund, and plans to complete both the ordinance and budget review with the opening of the county council in February, aiming to finish the payments within the month.
On the 23rd, Governor Myung Hyun-gwan and County Council Chair Lee Seong-ok agreed to expedite the related procedures to ensure the support fund is provided to residents without delay, and discussed ways to cooperate.
Governor Myung stated, “With ongoing internal and external economic difficulties, we have decided to provide the Livelihood Economic Recovery Support Fund to achieve immediate effects for residents’ livelihood stability and local economic revitalization,” and added, “We hope this will serve as an opportunity to quickly invigorate the local economy through increased local consumption.”
